ABOUT

Myrioi is a contemporary jazz group, founded by Dutch drummer Neil van der Drift and Slovak pianist Pavel Morochovic, that combines a modern approach of jazz with a symphonic heritage from both East and West Europe.

Neil and Pavel, both were part of the Criss Cross Europe project in '16/'17, representing their country, touring through Europe with Louis Sclavis. In 2019, Neil and Pavel were reunited and decided to combine their music into one new trio. Juraj Griglak (SK), who's been playing with Pavel for many years, completes the trio.

"For us, composing is like translating memories about things that happend, things we've seen and people we've met, into songs, as if we're creating our one photo-album filled with songs instead of photos and then share it with the world.", recall Neil and Pavel.

Above all, their recent activities include preparing fresh material for their upcoming album and performing with the trio and other projects in various well-known clubs and music festivals (North Sea Jazz, Jazz in Duketown, Breda Jazz, Jazz Dnes, One Day Jazz Fest, Paradox, Unterfahrt, De Biljoke, De Werf, Opderschmelz, Jazz Presov, Festival KHJ, ESPRIT, Open Jazz Fest Blue Note, Hevhetia Festival, etc.)
